PETER JOHN MANNING A service of thanksgiving for the life of Peter John Manning, who passed away on Saturday, April 17th in Nightingale House Hospice, was held at Tallarn Green Methodist Church on Friday April 23rd. The service was conducted by family friend, Rev. David Hudson, assisted by Superintendent Rev. Michael Parrott and District Chairman Rev. Peter Barber. Mrs Edna Parry was the organist. Aged 74, Peter, born at Lower Farm Duckington was the fifth son of Frank and Sarah Manning. When he left school he helped on the family farm and in 1956 moved with his parents to Wallington Farm, Worthenbury. He joined Malpas Y.F.C. and soon became Treasurer and Chairman. He married Doreen Davies in 1962 and they farmed there until retiring to The Smithy in 1998. They had two sons and a daughter and six grandchildren. Special tributes were given by David Paton, Rev. David Hudson and his daughter Hazel. His youngest granddaughter Joanna read a special poem which Peter had requested. In his farming interests Peter was Maelor NFU Chairman, County NFU Chairman and a Committee member of the former MMB. He was also a Methodist Lay Preacher for 40 years, a Circuit Steward for 6 years and Church Steward at Tallarn Green. Donations in lieu of flowers were for Cancer Research and Tallarn Green Methodist Church. Arrangements were made by E.J. Edgerton & Son.
